ONLY 2 MONTHS TO GO BEFORE HYNDBURN’S BIG CHARITY WALK
The annual Walk 4 your Charity is only 2 months away and will take place on Sunday 18thMay, 2014. This popular event is organised by the Rotary Club of Church and Oswaldtwistleand once more we are expecting a bumper attendance.
To encourage early registration a special offer is being made ie register during the month of MARCH and if entering 4 or more paying walkers the price will only be £2.50 per person. Make sure you register before 11.30pm on the 31st March to take advantage of this deal.
We are pleased that Sally Naden the popular broadcaster from BBC Radio will lead off the walk, which she hopes to complete. Sally is well known throughout Lancashire and hopefully her presence will attract more entries.
The walk commences at 9.30am (to 10.00am) from the Business Park at Junction 7, Clayton le Moors-across from the Dunkenhalgh Hotel. The 10k event takes walkers along the Leeds Liverpool canal, then through Great Harwood before returning to the start position. Those on the 5k walk will go through Rishton and Great Harwood before returning to the start position.
All participants of the walk can be sponsored for any good cause, or a charity like Cancer Research or NSPCC, or for for much needed funds for say amateur football clubs, Scout groups or any other organisations, really the list is endless.
The entrance fee is £5 per person (unless 4 or more enter during the month of April) children under 12 go free. The fee will be £7 for those registering on the day of the event. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash. Food and refreshments and toilets are available along the route as well as at the start and finish.
We are hoping that this year we will see more people in Fancy Dress and monetary prizes will be awarded to those who are judged to be the winners in 2 classes. Ie best individual and best group.
Ron Pickup Walk Organiser said “This annual walk is one of the Rotary Club’s key eventwhich embraces all club Rotarians who take part in the different aspects of the walk and we are all proud to be associated with such a successful event”.
