The Rotary Club of Church and Oswaldtwistle are rolling out a programme of presenting local Primary and Secondary Schools with illustrated dictionaries in exchange for shoe boxes filled with vital goods by the students for sending to needy countries.

The latest School to receive dictionaries is Rhyddings Business and Enterprise School of Oswaldtwistle where year 7 students filled 30 shoe boxes and in exchange were prese nted with 4 dictionaries with 4 dictionaries being sent to under developed Schools abroad.

President Doreen Lawton said “ Further local Schools will be receiving dictionaries in exchange for shoe boxes over the next 6 months. This joint venture with Schools with sponsorship from local firms has been very successful, the dictionaries are much sought after, and the shoe boxes that the students fill are equally appreciated by the youngsters who receive them in Countries of need”.

Carmel Cunliffe , Business Manager at the School said “We are very pleased to be associated with the Rotary Club of Church and Oswaldtwistle in this project. The students have been very enthusiastic in playing their part in filling shoe boxes knowing they are helping needy people in poor Countries and hopefully getting a dictionary”.
