Hyndburn’s big charity walk is only days away and will take place on Sunday 18th May, 2014. This prestige event is organised by the Rotary Club of Church and Oswaldtwistle and will start at 9.30am from the Business Park at Junction 7 across from the Dunkenhalgh hotel.
Many of the 600 walkers will be sponsored for charities and good causes, and one of these will be BRAINWAVE a national charity that exists to help children with disabilities and additional needs to achieve greater independence. Aiming to improve mobility, communication skills, and learning potential, through a range of educational and physical therapies.
Steve Crossley and 11 other colleagues who support this very worthwhile charity said “ We are pleased to take part in the walk, it will raise the profile of Brainwave and provide much needed funds. As an independent organisation BRAINWAVE has the advantage of being able to unite the disciplines into taking a fully integrated approach towards the child’s development”.
The popular BBC Radio Lancashire presenter Sally Naden has agreed to get the Walk underway and hopes to complete the 10K event. The Rotary club is delighted to have such a personality lead the way.
Prizes will be awarded to walkers in Fancy Dress for the best individual and best group. Hopefully this year walkers will dress up accordingly it certainly brings more colour and atmosphere to the Walk. Blowjangles a musical group will be entertaining throughout the day with their lively music and colourful outfits.
The entrance fee is £5 per person (£7 on the day) children under12 go free. Hot food and refreshments are available along the route as well as at the start and finish.
