The District Technology Tournament was held on Friday 6 March at the Hollins Technology College, Accrington. The competition was open to all Secondary and Tertiary Schools and Colleges in Hyndburn, Ribble Valley and Blackburn with Darwen. 34 teams of 4 students took part and there were three levels, depending on the year of students taking part. There was also a competition for the staff, made up of 4 teams, accompanying the students.
This local competition is arranged by a committee of Rotarians from clubs in the 3 boroughs above, and on the day itself in addition to the 156 competitors, more than 25 Rotarians from the organising clubs acted as judges and stewards to manage the proceedings. Cups and prizes of books were given out by a representative of BAe, the sponsor of the District Tournament. Certificates were handed out to all participants.
The day was a tremendous success and is an example of what can be achieved by local Rotarians working together.
We are grateful to The Hollins Technology College for providing the venue once again.
The winners were:
Foundation level: winner- Ribblesdale High School, Runner up – Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School
Intermediate level winner – Rhyddings Business & Enterprise School, Runner up – The Hollins Technology College
Advanced level winner – Queen Elisabeth’s Grammar School
The 2016 Tournament will be held in March next year.
