RYPEN student shares the highlights of the course

P1010040“Rhyddings student, Cameron Ashworth, attended a recent meeting of Church & Oswaldtwistle Rotary Club to give an account of his time at Castle Head in Cumbria, where he attended the RYPEN course (Rotary Youth Programme for Enrichment). The course is based on adventurous activities and motivational team-building exercises. It is specifically designed to develop  self-belief and confidence. Typical activities involve conservation awareness, hiking, canoeing, climbing and a 2-day expedition on the Lakeland Fells. (Lancashire & Cumbria Rotary District is the only one out of 29 Districts to have such a programme!)

The club sponsored Cameron and he gave a detailed description of activities he completed, together with skills he learned and other tasks his group were involved with, including some scary ones such as climbing high poles etc.
Cameron thoroughly enjoyed the week and thanked the club for sponsoring him.”
