Hyndburn’s Big Charity Walk is only days away, organised by the Rotary Club of Church and Oswaldtwistle, the event will held on Sunday 17th May, 2015 and will start and finish at Junction 7 Business Park, Clayton-le-Moors.

Registrations are well up on last year and many large groups have entered in either the main 10k or 5k walks or the 5k fun run. One such group pictured above are the Junior teams of Oswaldtwistle St Mary’s Football club where over 60 players, managers and committee members will be walking to raise much needed funds for the club.

Manager, Pete Dudley, commented “we have entered this Charity Walk in the past, It is not only a great day for everybody, but there are lots of other things going on too, which makes it a fun day and at the same time letting the players put something back into the club.”

In addition about 60 players from the under 13’s of Ighten Leigh Football club in Burnley will undertake the Walk, again raising funds for the Football club which help the club’s finances.

Following the very sad tragic events in Nepal it has been decided that walkers are invited to get sponsorship for raising funds to go to this poor country by walking as TEAM NEPAL. The Rotary club of Church and Oswaldtwistle has been very much involved over the past year installing a water system in the village of Maikot in the Gorka region of Nepal, which has been badly affected by the earthquake. Personal and club donations have been forwarded to the Rotary club of Gorka to help them in their plight.

Ian McTurk the well known President of the Church and Oswaldtwistle Rotary club said “ I am very proud of what our club are achieving in this annual walk, the high level of registrations that are being received is very satisfying and is a credit to Walk Organiser Richard Wallwork. All we want now is a fine day.”

This is the last call to all residents of Hyndburn and outlying districts to come along with or without sponsorship and help make this year’s walk the best ever. Join popular Sally Naden from BBC Radio Lancashire who once more will be entering the 10k walk.
