Malta_-_St._Paul's_Bay_-_Malta_International_Fireworks_Festival_09_iesThe annual Hyndburn Bonfire will be held at the Accrington Cricket Ground, Thorneyholme Road, off Queens Road on Saturday 7th November with the Gates being opened at 6.30pm with the lighting of the Bonfire at 7.00pm followed by a grand Fireworks display. Admission by payment at the gate and will be £3.00 for adults and £2.00 for children.

This hugely popular event is organised by the three local Hyndburn Rotary clubs, i.e. Accrington, Church and Oswaldtwistle and Great Harwood and Rishton. Income from the Bonfire has been donated to various charities over the years, which is usually around £5,000. This year the proceeds will go to the four local cadet forces that provide help to the Rotary clubs throughout the year.

The four Cadet forces are the Sea Cadets, the Army Cadets, the Royal Air Force Cadets and the Volunteer Police Cadets. The people of Hyndburn should be very proud of these local cadets, who through their education in their training are developing into excellent citizens.

The organisers are asking for people intending to be at the Bonfire to purchase tickets before the event to help avoid delay in gaining entrance. Advance Tickets will be discounted at £2.50 for adults and £1.50 for children, and are available now from most local establishments including Accrington Cricket club, Pam’s Book Ends Great Harwood, Abbey Street Dental Practice, Peel Park pub, Thompsons Estate Agents and Dixons News and Wine on Marlborough Road.

Ken Freeman one of the organisers from the Rotary club of Church and Oswaldtwistle said “All three local Rotary clubs are pleased to join together to put on this special event which draws in such a large attendance and provides funds for worthwhile charities. Could I ask families who are intending to be at the Bonfire to purchase tickets in advance which is not only a saving but will give them quicker entry?”
